What to watch on Netflix:

Especially since finishing my GCSEs and being on holiday Netflix has become a large part of my life (I definitely do spend too much time watching it😂). Due to this I have watched a reasonable amount of films and series on it and I thought I would share some of my favourites and some shows/films that I want to watch in the future.

Films:

  • Kissing booth
  • Reality high
  • The Duff
  • Just go with it – to be honest I love most films that Adam Sandler is in and this also has Jennifer Aniston in it so what more do you want? 😂
  • Home again
  • Legally blonde – this is definitely a great one if you’re in need of motivation because if Elle Woods can graduate from Harvard you can do anything!
  • Barely lethal
  • The edge of seventeen
  • What to expect when you’re expecting
  • Monte Carlo
  • Love Rosie – not going to lie but I may have teared up a few times throughout this
  • Before I fall
  • Set it up
  • When we first met
  • Deadpool – Ryan Reynolds is amazing in this and it is a great to watch for a laugh
  • Most marvel films on there (like the avengers and guardians of the galaxy)
  • Nativity – how can I write a list of good films without mentioning nativity? This is my absolute favourite christmas film and I watch it at least 2 times every year (If i’m being honest I’m just waiting till September cause I feel like then its a bit more acceptable to watch start watching it again.

Series:

  • Outnumbered – literally one of my favourite shows ever, I have watched this a ridiculous number of times 😂
  • Pretty little liars – I think most people have heard of this one but I though I’d mention it as it is great
  • Friends – an amazing series and another one of my absolute favourites
  • Vampire diaries – who doesn’t love a bit of Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder?
  • The originals
  • iZombie
  • Once upon a time
  • Love island
  • Shadowhunters – this is based on the book series The Mortal Instruments
  • 13 reasons why – I think is one of the very well known shows on Netflix and I personally really liked it but if you are going to watch it you should be aware that it can be quite intense at times
  • Sherlock
  • Dynasty
  • Riverdale
  • Jane the virgin
  • Miranda – one of my all time faves and Miranda Hart is so funny this
  • Gossip girl – lets face it at some point or another we’ve all wanted to be Serena van der Woodsen or Blair Waldorf
  • The Crown
  • Victoria
  • Gavin and Stacey – this is an absolute British classic and you’ve just got to love James Corden in this
  • Stranger things

I hope this little list is some what useful and I would love to hear what some of you favourite films and shows on Netflix are so make sure to leave them in the comments.

What to do on a flight:

Today I have a very exciting post for you as this is my first collab on my blog and it is with the amazing Meg (I will leave her links at the end). So we thought we would share some ideas of things you can do on a flight or during other long journeys. Make sure you read Meg’s post after reading mine.

So one thing I love to do is watch films or series that I have been wanting to watch. I mainly download films on the netflix app and watch them off there but if you are on a long haul flight they often have lots of good films on the entertainment system. I find this is a great way to pass the time during a long journey and it is a great opportunity to watch the films or series you have wanted to see for ages but haven’t got round to watching yet.

I also tend to use journeys as a time to read my book because I am so bad at setting aside time to read normally. I do enjoy reading but the main time I read is when I am on holiday so I like to start reading a book on the journey to start getting into the book. However I only tend to read if I am travelling by plane and not by car as I do get travel sick so if you are also travel sick make sure this doesn’t cause you to start feeling unwell.

Another thing I like to do while travelling is listen to music especially when travelling on long car journeys. I normally download a load of music on my phone before going on a journey and I like to create new playlists I can listen to. I like to listen to music during car journeys as its more interesting than basically doing nothing but I also means that I don’t get travel sick.

Something I love to do to pass the time is having a sleep especially if I had to get up really early to travel. This can often make you feel better for when you arrive as you don’t feel drained and it is an easy way to pass the time.

Finally playing games on your phone is a fun way to use some of the time. Before travelling I like to find loads of new games I like to play so I can play them on the journey. Make sure you have downloaded games that don’t need wifi as you won’t easily have access to that while on a plane or in a car. My favourites at the moment are rider, best fiends, solitaire and 2048.

I would love to hear what your favourite things to do on a fight or a long journey are so make sure to leave a comment below. Also make sure you check out Meg’s blog as it is great!

My skincare routine:

I’ve been following the same skincare routine for over a year now and I have found it works well for my skin so I thought I would share it with you all. I do every so often use a different cleanser or moisturiser for like 1 or 2 days just to give my skin a little change and to ensure my normal cleanser and moisturiser work properly.

DSC_9834I personally have oily skin (which can get very oily in the summer) but then during the winter I often get dry patches on my skin so I would say it is more combination then.

DSC_9909The cleanser I have been using for two years now is the Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish. I absolutely love using this product as it great for my sensitive skin and can remove makeup really quickly and easily. I definitely prefer using this to take off my makeup instead of makeup wipes as it is much more gentle and makes my skin feel really fresh and clean unlike makeup wipes.

I then like to use the Liz Earle Skin Tonic Spritzer as it is really cooling on the skin and I find it much easier to apply moisturiser after using this. I have had this toner for ages and it has lasted really well. I chose to go for the spritzer version as I don’t like using cotton pads to wipe products over my face as it can irritate my skin.

DSC_9908After using the toner I apply moisturiser and the moisturiser I find works best for my skin is the Simply Oil Balancing one. I apply this all over my face and this helps stop my skin from getting really dry but also doesn’t make my face go really oily really quickly like a lot of moisturisers do.

In the summer or on some school mornings I like to use my Simple Revitalising Eye Roll On. When I am tired or if my hay fever isn’t great I can get puffy eyes so I like to use this to help me feel more awake and reduce some of the puffiness. This is so nice to use on my eye area as it is really cool and refreshing.

DSC_9887Two other products I thought I would mention are the Simple Cleansing Wipes and the Clinique Moisture Surge Moisturiser. On days that I can’t be bothered to properly wash my face or remove my makeup I use the Simple wipes as they are quick to use and are less effort than using my normal cleanser (however I try not to use these too often). I use the clinique moisturiser every so often in the winter on any dry patches of skin as I find it is really good at rehydrating any dry skin.

I would love to hear some of your staple skincare products and what products you recommend so make sure to leave them in the comments.

My top 5 makeup products:

So for my first official blog post I thought that I would share with you my top 5 favourite makeup products at the moment. Also I have decided that I will try and upload on here every Saturday at 6:00 pm.

DSC_9755 1) My first favourite is the Too Faced Just Peachy Mattes palette as the formula and the colours are great. I personally love warm tone colours (like peaches, warm browns, oranges etc.) on my eyes as I think they go well with my blue eyes so this palette is perfect. The shade range is amazing which gives me the possibility to create many different eye looks and the formula means that the colours have good pigment and blend well on my eyes. I use this palette on the majority of the days I wear makeup and I love it.

2) Next up is the Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara as I really like the way it makes my lashes look. Mostly I prefer not to use plastic wands however I really like this one as it adds so much volume and some length to my lashes. It is also great as the wand separates my lashes nicely and helps to stop them from looking really clumpy.

3) Another fave product of mine is the Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer. Personally I’m quite pale so I often struggle with finding bronzer or contour shades that don’t look orange on me but still add a nice bronzy glow to my skin. The shade of this bronzer is perfect for me and I love that there is a faint golden shimmer as it gives my skin a healthy glow. The only thing I don’t love about this product is the smell but over the time I’ve had it I have got used to it.

4) A solid staple in my everyday makeup is a good setting powder and at the moment I have been really enjoying using the Rimmel Match Perfection Loose Powder. This summer I have started baking when I do my makeup to help it last the whole day especially as my skin is oilier in this heat (which is too hot for England 😂). This powder works really well as it helps to bright my undereyes and ensures that my makeup stays put for much longer than normal.

5) My last favourite is the Seventeen Stay Time Concealer in Extra Fair and I absolutely love this product. As I have already mentioned I am pale so I struggle with getting a good concealer or foundation shade but this one is perfect. The formula of this is great as it is creamy and easy to blend but also stays on the skin all day once set. This concealer doesn’t oxidise when applied which is great as you don’t gradually turn more orange throughout the day.

I would really recommend all of the products I have mentioned and I would love to hear what your favourite makeup products are.

Welcome!

Welcome to SimplyxAnna!

I have been thinking about creating a blog for a while and the other day I just decided that I should make one. I have also chosen to blog about beauty and my life in general on here.

So my name is Anna (as you could probably guess by the name of my blog) and I live in good old England. I am 16 years old so in September I will be going into Year 12 in sixth form.

My main goal for blogging is to just enjoy it and create something that I am proud of. I hope to improve my blog over time and learn more about the different aspects involved.

I hope you will enjoy reading my blog 🙂
